The Appointment Lovejoy Surgicenter supports the rights and privacy of each woman’s decision surrounding her pregnancy. Any information shared with Lovejoy Surgicenter is kept strictly confidential. If a woman should decide to terminate her pregnancy, our counselors review the appropriate abortion procedure in detail, sharing information about what to expect in the days following. Information about birth control methods is an important part of our services, and our counselors will assist each of our patients in choosing an appropriate method. The time spent at Lovejoy Surgicenter consists of an ultrasound to confirm gestation, counseling, lab work, meeting with the MD and CRNA (if required), the abortion procedure, recovery time and a follow-up visit two weeks after the procedure. Most women can resume normal activity by the evening of their abortion. In the weeks following, our patients can expect to experience off and on bleeding and cramping from 2 weeks until their next period. Pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, breast tenderness and fatigue are usually gone within a few days of the procedure. A packet of information will be given to take home with instructions for care, an antibiotic, prescription level ibuprofen, birth control samples, instructions on use and a prescription for continuation.
